Begin at Home – Service For Employees
Begin at Home
At Goodwill, we know that many of our employees are starting out fresh, some are wanting to build on an existing career, and others are simply making ends meet. We want to help support our employees in providing the proper foundation for employment and long-term success! That’s why we started the Begin at Home program in 2020.
So, what is Begin at Home? Goodwill doesn’t want to let any obstacle get in the way of an employee’s success. That’s why Goodwill employees can receive services that will help them overcome barriers they may be experiencing, whether it’s not having enough food or needing a way to get to work. Begin at Home works with partner organizations and businesses to make sure employees have what they need to be successful at work.
Here’s how it works:
Through Begin at Home, employees who apply for more intensive services will work with our Begin at Home Trainer and and Employment Specialist to help gain much needed tools and resources to create a plan toward employment success!
Employees are given options on different learning tracks. One option is our registered apprenticeship program through the Department of Labor. Another is going through the Goodwill Seal, a standard of skill attainment that we expect all of our employees to achieve after 1-year of continuous employment through our program.
No matter which track our employees choose, they will have access to our Employee Assistance Program. Some employees may need some additional support. That is why Goodwill has partnered with other local agencies to help employees get the help they need when they need it most.
