Q: How can I come to work for Oklahoma Goodwill Industries?
A: Check out our
Jobs page or contact our Human Resources
Department.
Q: Do you have a program for volunteers?
A: Yes. Please contact Delena Burrell at 278-7139 if you are interested in volunteering.
Q: What can I donate? Which items are unacceptable? Where
can I donate?
A: Please see our
How To Donate page.
Q: Do you have a pick-up service?
A: We have temporarily discontinued our pick-up service.
Q: What happens to my donations?
A: Goodwill employees at our main location at 410 Southwest
Third Street sort and process all the donations. The best goods go to our
retail stores. Items that are too worn or dirty for retail are sold for
salvage. Donations do not go into landfills unless the item is initially
unacceptable, unable to be sold in retail or as salvage, and non-recyclable.
Even the boxes you bring your donations in are taken to a recycling center!
Rest assured that your donations will go to a good cause.
Q: What can I expect to find in your retail stores?
A: Great bargains on just about anything. We have clothing,
housewares, books, and toys, along with new items from Target stores. We are
careful about selling things that are not worn out or dirty, and many of our
items are like new. You may even find things that have never been worn! Our
stores are ideal for a bargain hunter with any size of budget. Furthermore,
you'll find fresh merchandise every time you shop, so you won't see that same
red sweater every month.
Q:What is your policy regarding returns?
A: All goods are sold as-is, and we don't allow returns.
Q: Do you have any special discounts?
A: Absolutely. We have a preferred customer program in which
you may use a special card and receive 10% off. In addition to various sales,
we also have "Dollar Days" during which certain items tagged with a
specific color are on sale for $1. Come visit any of our stores and find out
what that day's special is.
Q: Do you sell items in bulk, such as books and shoes?
A: No, we do not sell items in bulk to the public, and we
use salvage brokers for our bulk leftover items.
Q: Do you provide clothing, furniture, vehicles, or vouchers to individuals in need? Do you
provide medical equipment to disabled people?
A: Unfortunately, we do not. Our primary purpose is to employ people with disabilities, but we can refer you to agencies
that can meet your specific needs.
Q: Do you accept recyclable materials?
A: Yes, we do, as part of our "going green" plan. Please see our
How to Donate page for more information.
Q: Another charity called me at home and offered to pick up my donations. Why shouldn't I donate to them?
A: Sometimes, for-profit thrift stores and salvage companies will use a charity’s name to solicit donations, and
the charity receives a flat payment or percentage of the revenue. They are not
open about this, and the reality is that the affiliated charity may receive as
little as 5 cents on the dollar. We’ll be honest with you: the majority of our revenue goes
toward training and employing people with disabilities. The rest goes to other
operating costs. We know that you have good intentions, and we
encourage you to donate wisely.
