Oklahoma Goodwill is "going green." For
us, it isn't about following business trends or becoming "tree-huggers."
It's simply a logical step for Goodwill.
Every year, Oklahoma Goodwill recycles millions of items
that would have gone into landfills by reselling donated goods in our retail
stores. We have taken that a step further and adopted many environmentally friendly
habits, all of which are good for our organization, the community we serve, and
Oklahoma's environment. Many of these new habits actually reduce our operating
costs or bring in money, which means we can direct more funding toward our
programs.
- Recycling cardboard, paper, glass, plastic, aluminum, and much more
- Purchasing supplies made from recycled materials
- Partnering with TownHall Solutions to bottle, package, and distribute environmentally friendly cleaning products, which provides us with another way to employ people with disabilities
- Keeping our buildings energy efficient
- Fueling our trucks with biodiesel, a renewable cleaner-burning fuel mixture of vegetable oil and diesel
- Driving hybrid vehicles
We invite all of our employees, clients, donors, and retail
customers to join us in "going green." We also thank those who have
assisted us in our efforts.
